- I have been teaching outside the classroom for almost 20 years as an environmental educator, park ranger, wildland firefighter and now as a personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and health educator. I consider myself a late blooming athlete as I was raised in a sedentary family and discovered in adulthood how transforming exercise is. My Education and certifications include Personal Trainer and Advanced Health and Fitness Specialist Certifications from the American Council on Exercise, a Fitness Instructor/Exercise Science Professional Certificate from UCSD, and a B.S. from Humboldt State University.
